For your information, it's useful to know that the majority of the cPanel-based Web Hosting offerings on the present-day hosting marketplace are supplied by a quite insubstantial marketing niche (as far as yearly cash flow is concerned) named hosting reseller. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-scale marketing segment, which provides an enormous amount of different web hosting brands, yet providing literally the same solutions: mainly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the website hosting offerings on the whole hosting marketplace offer literally the same solution: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel Web Hosting price tags are similar. Quite identical. Giving those who demand a top web hosting service almost no other web hosting platform/web hosting Control Panel alternative. Thus, there is simply one single fact: out of more than 200k website hosting brands worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than 2 percent, mark that one...

Two hundred thousand "Web Hosting firms", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely labeled

The Web Hosting "diversity" and the website hosting "offers" Google shows to all of us boil down to just one and the same solution: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different web hosting brand names. Imagine you are only an ordinary person who's not very well aware of (as most of us) with the web site making processes and the hosting platforms, which in fact power the different domain names and online portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting choice? Is there any hosting alternative you can opt for? Of course there is, now there are more than 200k web hosting providers in existence. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand unique web hosting brands worldwide will offer you the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, dubbed in a different way, with the very same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the assortment on today's web hosting market is... Period.

The Web Hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple math demonstrates that to choose a non-cPanel based web hosting service provider is an enormous stroke of luck. There is a less than one in fifty chance that a thing like that will happen! Less than 1 in 50...

The strong and weak points of the cPanel-based Web Hosting solution

Let's not be severe with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modern and possibly met all web hosting market prerequisites. To put it briefly, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have just a single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Weak Point Number 1: A dumb domain folder setup

If you have two or more domain names, however, be very careful not to erase completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are quite easy to erase on the web hosting server, since they all are located into the root folder of the default domain, which is the quite well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domain names, please. Decide for yourself how marvelous cPanel's domain name folder system is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you getting confused? We positively are!

Problem Number 2: The very same email folder configuration

The email folder arrangement on the server is literally the same as that of the domains... Making the very same error twice?!? The sysadmin chaps strongly enhance their belief in God when managing the e-mail folders on the mail server, praying not to bungle things up too gravely.

Weak Side Number Three: An absolute absence of domain manipulation tools

Do we have to bring up the absolute deficiency of a contemporary domain manipulation GUI - a location where you can: register/move/renew/park or manage domains, change domain names' Whois information, secure the Whois information, modify/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not offer such a "contemporary" tool at all. That's a major problem. An unforgettable one, we wish to point out...

Weak Side Number Four: Numerous login locations (minimum 2, maximum three)

What about the necessity for another login to access the billing transaction, domain name and tech support management section? That's aside from the cPanel account login credentials you've been already provided by the cPanel-based Web Hosting supplier. Now and then, based on the billing transaction tool (especially developed for cPanel only) the cPanel Web Hosting provider is using, the keen customers can wind up with two additional login places (1: the invoice transaction/domain name management user interface; 2: the trouble ticket support GUI), winding up with an aggregate of three login places (including cPanel).

Predicament Number Five: More than a hundred and twenty Control Panel sections to pick up... fast

cPanel offers for your consideration more than 120 menus inside the web hosting CP. It's a glorious idea to become acquainted with each one of them. And you'd better become acquainted with them rapidly... That's very impertinent on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Web Hosting distributors:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mark that one too...
