Network Issue Update – October 31, 2024
Network Issue Update
Date: October 31, 2024
On the morning of October 31, 2024, our US data center began experiencing network issues due to an unexpected change:
What Happened:
- Our previous DDoS protection provider, NSFocus, stopped sharing our network routes without informing us. In simple terms, they stopped telling the internet how to find our servers.
Immediate Actions:
- We redirected our network traffic away from NSFocus, which restored connectivity for most services.
- Since our data center handles some of our network routing through a system called BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), we couldn't fix the issue on our own.
Ongoing Issues:
- We're still facing problems with Microsoft services (like Hotmail and Outlook emails).
- This is because these services can't reach us through the data center's new ASN (Autonomous System Number), which is like a new address for our network.
Impact on Clients:
- You might not be able to send emails to Hotmail or Outlook users until this is resolved.
Resolution Efforts:
- Our data center is actively working to fix these remaining issues as soon as possible.
Summary:
An unexpected change by our former DDoS protection provider disrupted our network. We've fixed most issues, but some email services are still affected. We're collaborating with our data center to restore full connectivity quickly.
